Java Break and Continue

Java Break

The break statement can be used to exit a loop early when a certain condition is met.

Example: Stopping a loop when i equals 4

for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
  if (i == 4) {
    break;
  }
  System.out.println(i);
}

Java Continue

The continue statement skips the current iteration and moves to the next one when a condition is met.

Example: Skipping the value 4

for (int i = 0; i < 10; i++) {
  if (i == 4) {
    continue;
  }
  System.out.println(i);
}

Break and Continue in While Loop

You can also use break and continue in while loops.

Example: Using break in a while loop

int i = 0;
while (i < 10) {
  System.out.println(i);
  i++;
  if (i == 4) {
    break;
  }
}

Example: Using continue in a while loop

int i = 0;
while (i < 10) {
  if (i == 4) {
    i++;
    continue;
  }
  System.out.println(i);
  i++;
}
